Neighbors and Pets : What is it?

Noisy neighbors and barking dogs require tact not temper. It's best to talk to your neighbor first—he may not be aware that his stereo is too loud or that his dog wakes you up every time he goes in or out the doggy door. If talking doesn't work, you may need to write your neighbor a tactful letter, or even try mediation. Litigation—small claims court—should be your last resort since proving a "nuisance" can be difficult.
